WHO Foundation and Laerdal Global Health announce $12.5 million commitment to scale up access to lifesaving acute care

Laerdal Global Health founder, Tore Lærdal shared this announcement at the Laerdal-co-hosted side event during the recent World Health Assembly in Geneva - “Acting on WHA76.2: Strengthening Acute Care Systems to Save More Lives”. The event brought together Ministers of Health, frontline innovators, and global partners to discuss how to turn commitments into scalable solutions.

This contribution will support the scale-up of WHO’s Basic Emergency Care (BEC) program in 400 hospitals across three African countries. To amplify this core commitment, a new funding consortium has been established: Lifeline: The Acute Care Action Fund, aimed at generating $25 million to further scale up to 1,000 hospitals in five more countries, saving an estimated 50,000 lives every year.
