Working towards a world where all births are safe at FIGO 2023

We’ll be participating in the largest world congress hosted by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) October 9-12 in Paris, France.

With over 8000 professionals from gynecology and obstetrics in attendance, Laerdal Global Health (LGH) and our sister company, Laerdal Medical will be showcasing solutions, presenting alongside key global partners, and connecting with decision makers to help bring the world closer to being a world where all births are safe.

Laerdal Global Health will participate in several key sessions..

  • Joined by the World Health Organization, LGH Product and Implementation Manager Patricia Titulaer will provide insight into Transitioning to Midwifery Models of Care on Wednesday 11th October.

  • Also on October 11th, the World Health Organization will formally launch their postpartum hemorrhage PPH Roadmap to address the leading cause of maternal death. Following this, two separate meetings are planned in partnership with WHO; the first to discuss best practices for training to help reduce maternal mortality and morbidity, focussing on how to take new guidelines and turn them into impactful training; the second will be a donor discussion to consider how to best finance the PPH Roadmap.

  • With partners including Maternity Foundation, UNFPA and Pronto International, LGH will convene an important discussion titled Barriers and Breakthroughs to Capacity Development join us on Tuesday October 10th to discuss what is needed to strengthen implementation of innovative solutions.

  • On October 12th and 13th, LGH Implementation Manager, Alemnesh Reta, will facilitate two hands-on simulation training events. The first focussing on Improving the Quality of Labor Care Management across the Continuum of Care is a session delivered in collaboration with several of our key partners, including Jhpiego and Haydom Lutheran Hospital. The second is a Masterclass in Managing PPH hosted by the FIGO Committee on Childbirth and Postpartum Hemorrhage.
