The Natalie Collection WINS INDEX:AWARD 2013

Win Big, Share Big

Laerdal Global Health has won the coveted INDEX: Award -- the most highly regarded design award in the world. INDEX: Design to Improve Life is a key player in the field of social and sustainable design for the global community. Not only a highly esteemed prize, INDEX: AWARD is also the largest of its kind in the world.

We have decided to donate the prize money (100,000 Euros) to the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). With this funding, ICM will continue to train and equip birth attendants in the Helping Mothers Survive and Helping Babies Breathe training programs with the Natalie Collection. By 2015, these programs aim to train one million birth attendants in basic newborn and obstetric care, to help save the lives of mothers and babies at birth.

The Natalie Collection; NeoNatalie Penguin Suction, NeoNatalie Newborn Simulator, and MamaNatalie Birthing Simulator, claimed the prize from among 59 innovative designs including a toy that seeks and destroys landmines, an app that scans for skin cancer, plastic bottles used to provide electricity in slums, an invention that allows paraplegics standing mobility, even prevailing over well-known TEDx and Google Glass.
