LIFT wins grant from Innovation Norway
June 2020
In competition with over 40 applicants, Laerdal Global Health has been selected as 1 of 6 recipients of a grant from Innovation Norway to develop a digital solution that will help developing countries solve a health or education challenge.
The project called LIFT – Learning, Improvement and Facilitation Tool - focuses on how to ensure that relevant initiatives are taken at hospitals to improve care, including low-dose high-frequency training practice. By developing a tool that connects clinical care with training and quality improvement activities, we will equip organizations, mentors and facilities with action-oriented data. The data will illustrate areas in need of focus, provide guidance on actions that can be taken and track improvement progress.
LIFT builds on experience, tools and platforms developed to support newborn resuscitation within Laerdal’s Safer Births project. In this proposal, we aim to expand the digital service to cover all areas of care within the Helping Mothers Survive and Helping Babies Survive training programs. The 3-year grant of NOK 4,6 million will cover 25% of the estimated development costs.
As part of COVID-19 response, Laerdal Global Health and partners are well underway to develop digital tools for remote facilitation to ensure that regular training can continue during the current situation. This initiative complements the LIFT project in that the solutions developed in the remote training project support the introduction of knowledge and skills, whereas the solutions developed in LIFT will support the maintenance and translation of these skills to improve care.
